Most memorable ride:
Dunsberg 2009: With a good result in this race there was still a small chance of winning the RWP Marathoncup in my category, so I was very motivated before the start. Just half an hour into the race my rear tire flatted which cost me nearly ten minutes and lots of places. I thought the race was over for me and after hearing that my twin brother also flatted (he was stranded one corner back) I didn’t expect anything from this race anymore for both of us. So I was just noodling along initially and having an occasional chat. But during the first lap I noticed that my legs didn’t feel so bad after all and confidence came back. So I upped the pace and began to overtake a lot of people. When going into the second and last lap of the race I could see that I was closing in on some of the stronger riders. So I upped the pace again… At the finish it appeared that I still finished 7th overall and was 1st in the men’s category. Apparently I had overtaken the leader in my category during the final kilometers of the race!
